Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to ship?
Orders typically ship within 1–2 business days for ready-made straps. If you select the optional Anti-Slip Grip, please allow 5–7 business days for production before shipping. You’ll receive tracking information once your order ships.
What is your return/exchange policy?
We accept returns or exchanges for unused straps in original condition within 30 days of delivery. Straps that have been attached to an instrument or show signs of wear are considered used and are final sale. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and any agreed loss in value for non-defective items. Please contact us before returning any item.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this time. We currently ship only within the United States.
What is the anti-slip grip option?
The Anti-Slip Grip is an optional textured neoprene backing applied to the strap for extra hold and stability. Each grip section measures approximately 18 inches in length, beginning about 8 inches from the front end of the strap (near the hardware). This placement allows the grip to rest naturally over your shoulder where it provides the most support. Selecting this option adds $25 and may extend processing time to 5–7 business days.
Do you accept custom orders?
Not currently. All Shimmy Shudder straps are made in small batches and listed as ready to ship, except when the Anti-Slip Grip option is selected. Keep an eye on the shop for new designs and limited releases.
How should I care for my strap?
Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, direct sunlight, or high heat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. When not in use, store flat or hang on your instrument to prevent creases in the webbing and preserve the leather’s condition.
How do I attach my strap for the first time?
Shimmy Shudder straps feature precision-cut leather ends with a small slit for secure attachment. On first use, the leather may feel snug when sliding onto your instrument’s strap buttons. Gently work the leather in a circular motion to guide it into place. Over time, the leather naturally wears in and becomes easier to use, while maintaining a strong, secure fit.
Are Shimmy Shudder straps safe for my instrument?
Yes — all straps are carefully designed to be secure and stage-ready. However, we are not responsible for damage to instruments, finishes, or personal property resulting from normal use or improper attachment. Always ensure your strap is properly seated on your instrument’s strap buttons before use.
Material and color variations
Due to the nature of premium fabrics like cut velvet, chenille, and leather, as well as differences in lighting and screen calibration, slight color, texture, and sheen variations may occur. Horween Essex leather and metal hardware may also show minor natural marks or finish variations. These are inherent to high-quality materials and do not affect durability or performance. Each strap is unique and handcrafted — these natural differences add character and authenticity.
Packaging and shipping
Each strap is carefully packaged and inspected before shipment. Some straps may be rolled or folded depending on the material type to ensure safe delivery and minimal creasing.
